In a recent Washington Post question and answer real estate article, a potential home buyer inquired about the necessity of a home inspection.
Remarkably, this first-time home buyer indicated that his real estate agent discouraged him from making the contract to purchase a 35-year-old home contingent upon a home inspection. That's completely outrageous!
Why would you make such a large financial investment in a home, any home, and not spend about $400 for a home inspection?
As the author of the article puts it, "Home inspections should be part of every residential real estate transaction." I could not agree more.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts publishes a consumer guide about home inspectors and a list of all the state's licensed home inspectors.
