Mortgage Applications Near Four-Year High

U.S. mortgage applications rose 7.5 percent compared to the previous week, Reuters reported January 30, 2008.

The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) provided the data.

The MBA seasonally adjusted index of refinancing applications soared 22.1 percent, the highest since July 2003, and the index measuring applications for home purchases declined 17.7 percent.
