Both single-family and condominium home sales in Massachusetts increased in November compared to November 2010; however, median prices declined compared to the same period last year, The Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) reported December 21, 2011.
Single-family homes sales jumped 13.15 percent in November, the fifth straight month of year-over-year increases. On a month-to-month basis, home sales were up 1.83 percent compared October.
The median selling price for single-family homes in November was $284,500, a decrease of 3.9 percent compared to $295,950 in November 2010. On a month-to-month basis, the November median selling price went up 3.83 percent from October.
November saw condominium sales increase 6.51 percent compared to the same time last year. On a month-to-month basis, Massachusetts condominium sales were up 2.43 percent.
Condo median selling prices in November declined 6.47 percent from November 2010. The median price went from $270,510 in November 2010 to $253,000 in November 2011. On a month-to-month basis, the median selling price of a condominium in Massachusetts was down 0.78 percent from an October median of $255,000.
