New Hampshire home sales increased in February 2012 while prices dropped compared to February 2011. This year’s rise in home sales was the third straight year of February sales increases, the UnionLeader.com reported March 22, 2012.
New Hampshire home sales increased 13 percent in February 2012, a difference of 76 sales compared to February 2011 (661 sales in February 2012, 585 in February 2011). The 661 sales represented the most February sales since 2007.
The median price of New Hampshire homes decreased 3 percent in February 2012, a difference of $5,100 compared to February 2011 ($185,000 in February 2012, $179,900 in February 2011). New Hampshire home prices are down 6 percent over the first two months of the year; however, the drop in median price in February was the second smallest drop in New England, with Massachusetts seeing only a 2.2 percent price drop.
