Both median home prices and home sales in Cambridge, Massachusetts rose in the second quarter of 2010, according to multiple listing service (MLS Property Information Network, Inc.).
The median price of single-family homes in Cambridge, MA increased 25.2 percent, or $201,000, compared to the second quarter of 2009. Sales of single-family homes also increased in the second three months of 2010. Compared to Q2 of 2009, sales rose a significant 66.6 percent, to a total of 35 homes sold.
The median price of condominiums in Cambridge, MA also increased in the second quarter of 2010, in addition to an increase in sales. The median price for a condominium in Cambridge rose $39,000 or 10.1 percent in the second quarter of 2010 to $426,500. Sales increased by 14.9 percent, from eight sales in the second quarter of 2009, to 14 sales in Q2 2010.
When compared to Q2 2009, in the second quarter of 2010 multi-family homes in Cambridge saw a decline in median price that was met with a rise in sales. The median price dropped 12.9 percent or $105,022. Sales of multi-family homes rose 12.5 percent to a total of 18 homes sold.
